What I Did This Weekend…

….Construction Paper Edition!
So I planned on finishing up a sewing tutorial and sharing with you on Friday. My kids had other ideas and then this weekend we spent it making Halloween Decorations, a very special countdown chain, cutting Little Man’s hair and finally deciding what we were going to be for Halloween!
Here are the pictures and a few links to ideas and/or printables!

Little Man helped me cut & glue this free printable banner (it can be personalized!)together and choose where we hung it!

Milk Jug Ghosts (idea found here) I still have to cut a hole in the back and put our white Christmas lights in them but I think they are so cute! I have one more milk jug to add to it later today after lunch ha-ha!

Our countdown chain that stretches alllllll the way across our playroom (the center isn’t pictured) See our little footprint flag in the background? We still love it!

And lastly Little Man has a tricycle that he rides in the house and he kept saying he was ‘waiting for the green light’ while sitting on it so I made him a little traffic light and hung it in a doorway for him to pretend with…he loves it! Simple toys are the BEST!!

Ok that’s it for me today- hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back with a sewing tutorial OR our homemade Halloween costumes!
What are you & your kids going as?? Do you do a 'family theme' or just everyone picks something different?

Have A Happy Day,

Red, White & Blue!

So I had this idea last year, even went and bought the paint…then Hubs told me that he did not think Little Man would let me paint his foot & place it on a piece of paper over and over and over again. So I gave up (because in my mind Little Man would let me if I had Hubs helping me and obviously that wasn’t going to happen).
Let’s fast forward to this year and I’m glad I waited because Miss E gave it a whole new ‘cuteness’ factor! She is only 3 weeks old so I’m sure she wouldn’t have minded me painting her while she was asleep but I went the easy way with her and just traced her hand onto cardstock & cut it out to make a template.
Little Man loved doing this and is so proud of it! He is excited to show some friends that are coming over on the 4th, his flag!
So here is my quick, fun & cute 4th of July craft that I did with both my kids (by myself- Hubs was at work!) and now will have to have framed because it’s just. so. darn. cute. I want to keep it!

What do you think? The top two rows of ‘red’ need to have a heel & toes respectively added that would ‘go’ off the edge of the paper to ‘finish’ the row but other than that I love it! I thought about touching up some of the red on the footprints that didn’t come out so clear but I’m not sure…thoughts?

Have a great weekend everyone! Happy 4th of July! Special thanks to my Hubby & all of our military friends for keeping our nation free everyday! Love you all!

V-Day mantle!

I am excited that my fireplace re-do is finally done so that I can join Beth at The Stories of A to Z's Friday Mantel party!!

So here is my on a budget and don't feel like going to the store with a 2-year old Valentine's Day mantel!

And yes I know my tv is off center and the cords are showing (I'm working on that- the tv is off center because the power cord is too short to center it) but this is my REAL mantel- exactly as all my guests see it so that's how you see it- no photoshopping! Although I was tempted......
Here are some close ups with links to where to get the *free* printables!

V-day banner and happy heart day circles printed, trimmed, hole punched and hung with dental floss (mmmm minty!)

Painted wooden letters from Jo-Ann's last year. They came white and I painted one X & one O red and placed them on the mantel so they spell out XO XO on either side of the tv :)

These are hanging from my sconces and it's the same Happy Heart Day circle with a heart freehanded on  heart paper and cut out.

Everything that is printed is printed onto white cardstock and hole punched then hung with dental floss (this is stuff is so strong plus it gives a minty smell when my heater comes on haha) I taped them where necessary with regular scotch tape.

Go check out all the other (much more impressive & festive!) mantels over at Beth's Mantel Party!!

JSYK

JSYK= Just So You Know. I have no idea if that is an actual Internet/shorthand thing but it's what I started to type to my husband when he was deployed to tell him about things happening around here (usually a message like this: "JSYK we have X amount in the bank so don't spend it all" lol)

But today I'd like to give you a link to something that I am usually VERY tempted to print out and hand out to all the very obvious offenders- the #1 thing that bugs me is people leaving the flag out at night without lights on it or any proper lights on it (street lights do NOT count people!)

So Happy 4th and here ya go- go educate yourself! (Yes honey I know you know this already- you are excused from class!)
