More Naughty Spots!

Hi all!! How was your weekend? Sorry for all these sporadic posts! I've got quite a few lined up to be posted starting at the end of this week but I had to pop on here and share my news:
I entered a 'design your own' vinyl contest over on If Your Walls Could Talk blog (the blog for SayItOntheWall.com) and my 'naughty spot' design is in the top 10!

Colors and font that would be used if I won! I'm sure it's customizable for colors!

Now I need YOUR help! Could you go and vote for me? I would get the first cut of the design and also I believe it will be available in her shop for you to buy too if I win!! How fun!

So please spread the word and go vote!!
Have a Happy day,

A big week for me!

Tomorrow I’ll share with you how I turned an unused original built-in into my new pantry but today I have things to share!
First of all my blog was named one of the Top 52 Home Decorating Blogs (number 46 to be exact!) Thank you very much I am honored!
Secondly I actually won a giveaway! I have never in my life won something! I won a $25 gift certificate from Burlap & Blue! I entered the giveaway over at The Shabby Nest & won! Now to make up my mind on what I want……I have a feeling I’ll end up spending way more than $25!

Ok and the last thing I wanted to mention is that I was featured over at Under the Table & Dreaming! Thanks so much Stephanie!
UndertheTableandDreaming

Ok so that’s all my big news this week! I am like a kid in a candy shop! Jumping & shrieking may or may not have occurred upon learning of each of these things. I’ll never tell.
Have a happy day!

It's A.......Baby shower!!

So my baby shower was this past Saturday & I'm just fully recovered enough to edit photos and write a post. Whew! This whole pregnant with a toddler thing takes a lot out of you! (More on that later)

So the theme was "Cupcakes & Tea" and I actually used a lot of ideas I saw floating around the internet & ended up keeping my costs really low.

Ready for some pictures & a surprise? You've seen the invites I sent out...very gender neutral since we weren't telling anyone the gender remember?

Here is the welcome banner & teacup set-up as the guests walked in:

and of course we had to have some Martha Stewart Pom Poms! (well ones I made myself- I don't like to pay Martha for nothin!)

wait....that last pom isn't gender neutral is it?

hey wait- neither are those!! You can't see it in the picture but that banner across the windows says: "It's A Girl!"  Yup- that's right- our plan all along was to tell everyone at the baby shower! Our Little Girl has a due date of June 4th and we put off the baby shower as long as possible so that we could enjoy all the little guessing games going on amongst family & friends! (By the way yes she already has a name but that we don't share until she arrives!)

Let's see more of this shower now huh?

The iced tea & hot tea set-up on my buffet (taken after the party had started so you can see my MIL's camera bag haha)

The cupcake/cheese/cracker/fruit kabob table (directly under those pink poms!)

I made teapot/teacup shaped sugar cubes which I think are just so cute!

And napkins that I cut/folded into the shape of little dresses & my friend Katie tied ribbon 'sashes' around! Thanks Katie- where would I be without your help?? She also cut & glued the cupcake toppers together for me!

A little more of a close up (better lighting)

And the fireplace banner in the living room complete with a couple of my favorite outfits from a huge lot I bought of Craigslist for $25! Woohoo!

Ok so that is it for pictures I took. Here are the links to all the tutorials/shops/ideas I used so you can use them anyway you want to too!
Martha Stewart Tissue Paper Pom Poms (free)
Martha Stewart Printable Letters (free)
Napkin Dress instructions (free)
Cupcake topper image (free) & instructions (free)
Iced Tea label download (free)
Sugar cube how-to (free)
Teapot mold (not free lol)
Teapot shaped favors ~you rip them apart, plant them & wildflowers grow! (not free-tell them creativekristi sent you! I'm sure they'd love to know I'm talking them up!)

There you go! I mentioned earlier we'd talk a little about how tiring this pregnancy is getting having a toddler too...well I've decided only once a week for posting is about what I've been averaging and I'll try to keep it up until delivery day. After the baby comes I'm trying to arrange a few guest posters for you so that the blog continues but I can recover. I have one who says she'd love to help a new momma out & if any of you want to help please e-mail me: creativekristi (at) gmail (dot) com with the words "Baby Guest Poster" in the subject line. I'm only looking for 3 or 4 and if you have a blog please include a link so I can check it out too. You all know the type of stuff I write about so try to keep it in that general area of topic. If you don't have a blog that's fine too- send me an e-mail anyway and we can work something out! Thanks so much!

Have a great weekend!

A conversation with happiness.....

Last night after a long day of feeling like my house will never be 'company ready' & my pregnant body was at the point of 'I don't feel any bit of pretty anymore' my son was having a hard time getting to sleep. I was already laying in my bed & hubs brought him in to cuddle with Momma before bed.
I was laying facing away from him watching tv and he cuddled up to my back, put his little 2 & 1/2 year old arm around my neck kissed my back, sighed and said:
D: "momma?"
Me: "what hunny?"
D: "you my friend momma"
Me: "awww buddy you are my friend too. Thank you that made momma happy"
D: "you make me happy too momma"

That's it. That made my day, my week, my month, my everything. After time-outs & 'no you can't have that' and all of that- my son counts me as a friend. If that doesn't make you not give a darn about your house, your body, your self-prescribed shortcomings I don't know what will!

Happy Days to you!

Thoughtful Hubby!

I just wanted to pop in and say that my hubby is not the most romantic man (as in- I pull teeth to get him to tell me what he loves about me instead of just saying "I love you") but there are days when the things he does tell me that he does LOVE LOVE me & while he may not buy flowers or write me love notes he shows me in other ways.
Like today for instance. This morning while he was in the kitchen making coffee it seemed like he was taking an awfully long time. After he left to go to the store I went to pour some coffee & noticed he had scrubbed both the sink & the stove (if these are not clean it bugs me and he knows that)
Then he gets back from the store and holds up a bottle of something he bought.....

Now to all you in the South- I know I know it's not 'the' best sweet tea (it's made by the Coca-Cola company) but when you are from Maine and it's hard, no, near impossible- to find ANY sweet tea (let alone this big bottle!!) and you LOVE you some sweet tea- when you find it- you BUY IT! Also this happens to be the brand I bought the most while we were in SC in Feb. '09 for our 'honeymoon.' Meaning my hubby (who was only at the store to get milk & diaper cream) saw this, remembered first that I love sweet tea & second that this was the brand I liked the best on our vaca over. a. year. ago. then bought it and was so PROUD to show me when he got home!
*swoon!* See? He loves me!
Anyway I had to take a minute on this rainy Monday afternoon to toot my hubby's horn because I love him too & I really love that I have a clean stove & sink and a glass of sweet tea!

FYI: I blame my best friend Heather for moving to Charleston, SC for a few years after college on my obsession with sweet tea! I am still sad that she moved back home last year (not sad that she's closer to me but sad that I don't have a 'I haven't seen Heather in 6 months- let's go to SC' excuse anymore. tee-hee!)

Anyway happy Monday! I will hopefully be back tomorrow or Wednesday with a post on my baby shower invites I'm making!

8 years ago the world as we know it changed forever.

Things got scarier, bigger than us, confusing, but most of all WE got closer. For 6 or so blissful months we really did stand UNITED. Flags flew everywhere. Even places they had never been before. It was a welcome sight to this proud American.

Then complacency got us back in it's grip and we are back to tearing each other down.

Today let's honor those who died (those in the attacks & those in the resulting war) by doing something nice for a complete stranger.

I mean it. I will seek out someone, anyone!, and do something nice. And if I can't find someone I will practice random acts of surprise (like my new term?) by placing say, a $5 bill in the change return of a soda machine or paying for the person behind me in line's coffee. Something where the ACT is the reward, NOT the praise.

Want to join me? If you do I'd love to hear about it! Leave me a comment telling me what you did & if you did see the person's reaction how did that make you feel?

-Kristi

If you are reading this in Facebook or a reader please click through to my actual blog and leave your comment- thanks!

P.S. thanks honey for being my knight in combat boots, that whole shining armor thing is so overrated.
